its because playing video games is actually considered a hobby by some people which you would think is a dumb one but you can meet new peeps to make friends at conventions and stuff
im a nerd so im a pretty good example

You don't understand? We make friends through video games and then we hang out in real life. We talk to each other face to face, we meet each other's families, we go on vacations together, hell some of us even get married to one another. It happens all the time. My best friend and I have known each other since grade 2.

Well we hang out in a room with a bunch of people that are all around the same age and we play video games for hours upon hours and we build a friendship. That's how people generally get friends, it's not rocket science.

because people who hang out at night clubs have a tendency to be lonely people or people who want to find some casual sex partners
video game conventions and stuff are just a bunch of nerds hanging out having fun and being social with one another
and nerds are awesome people imo

True, true, but also the majority of the time these conventions are filled with people in relationships looking for other people in relationships and they make their own group and just hang out with each other.
