This guide can help you survive all 3 rounds of the L4D2 Last Stand DLC. It is in no way perfect and I may have forgotten to include some vital information.
1. How do I get to round 3?
In order to enter round 3, you must survive two rounds. You should be able to kill the first few zombies (the ones that come from the east) if you take your time and try to conserve ammo. Round 2 will be harder but you still have some time to prepare. Once you kill the tank, all hell breaks lose. It's better to go into round 2 with only a few supplies than having a lot of stuff to carry in round 1, but not enough for round 2.
Note: In round 2, it is recommended that you start to make your way to the far end of the map and hide behind the building or hide in the basement, depending on which one is closest to you.
2. What are all the supplies?
These are the supplies you will find throughout the map. Note the rarity of each supply:
- Pistol ammo: Common
- Shotgun shells: Uncommon
- Gas can: Rare
- Medkit: Rare
- First aid kit: Uncommon
A supply can be found by either searching in the grass, going through the zombie's drop bags, killing infected, and searching the crates that spawn on the map. If you search the building you will most likely NOT find anything.
- Pistol: Rare
- Shotgun: Rare
- M60: Rare, will spawn at random times.
Note that there is a "supply crate" that you can find near the helicopter, if you manage to find it.
3. Where are all the special weapons and supplies?
Below is a list of where you can find special weapons or supplies. These are listed in order of difficulty to get to.
- A supply crate found near the helicopter
- A gas can inside the helicopter.
- A gas can can also be found in the basement, though it is unlikely you'll find it there.
- A crate can be found in the basement. It has 20 Shotgun shells.
- A first aid kit is sometimes dropped from the helicopter in the helicopter drop zone.
- The first aid kit can also be found in the basement, but only spawns every so often.
4. How do I survive round 3?
When the round ends and you have made it to the helicopter, the helicopter will take off, carrying you to safety. The helicopter has a fuel tank which is finite. If you waste time, you will get to the helicopter with enough gas, and then run out before you are far enough away from the infected. To prevent this from happening, simply wait for the helicopter to leave, and then once it is gone, move towards the other building (it is recommended that you head west instead of east because it is easier to avoid being hit by the tank) and wait until the tank comes. When the tank enters, crouch behind the building and make sure that you stay behind it. Once you see the helicopter, move quickly, but make sure not to sprint so you don't run out of gas. Make sure you keep moving; if you slow down, the helicopter may crash and you'll get stranded in the middle of a horde of infected. The helicopter will make a few passes around your location as they search for survivors. After a while, the helicopter will find you, and they will swoop down to pick you up.
5. What happens at the end?
If you manage to reach the helicopter and get picked up, you will get dropped off at an airport where all the survivors will be taken to safety. You are rewarded $15,000 and given a new mission.
If you die at any point in any of the rounds, you get a message saying "You failed.".
