I'm not talking about any of the mainstream crap like Eminem, Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, etc. I mean old school rap and underground. I want something like Method Man, Big Punisher, Jay-Z, etc.

Yeah, but Nas is mainstream now and it's all been done before. He hasn't really done anything since Illmatic. What do you think? Is he better than those other rappers or what?

Nas is the best rapper in the history of rap, in my opinion. But he has become a little mainstream with his last couple albums. His older stuff was great though.

I meant like underground like when they weren't popular. I was talking about the old school rappers, not the mainstream ones who are popular now.

I don't think that's possible because Nas is one of the few rappers who's been underground for like 10+ years without changing up his style and he's still making hits, so yeah
He is really one of the few rappers to come out of the underground into mainstream and still be recognized as a real artist

Yeah, it's possible. A lot of people have made it without going mainstream or even going to major record labels. It's pretty easy to do nowadays with social media and all of that. All you need is the right people to know what you're doing.

Well true, but I doubt anyone would become as famous as him in rap if they don't go mainstream (Unless they were already famous for something else)
