There was once this man, named Jake. Jake was a very adventurous guy who always wanted to try new things in life. One day, Jake decided to go hiking in the mountains. He packed up all of his food and water, and started heading up the mountain. After a few hours of hiking, Jake came upon a waterfall. It was beautiful! The water cascaded down the rocks, and created a pool at the bottom. Jake couldn't help but jump into the pool. He swam around for a bit, and then decided to climb out. As he was climbing out, he noticed something shiny at the bottom of the pool. Curious, Jake climbed back into the pool to take a closer look. It was a silver coin! Jake picked it up and examined it. It had no writing or markings on it, so Jake couldn't tell what year it was made. But it was still a pretty cool find! Jake put the coin in his pocket, and continued on his hike. A few hours later, Jake arrived at a small cabin in the woods. It was a little run-down, but Jake thought it would do just fine. He knocked on the door, and an old man opened it. "Can I help you?" the man asked. "Yeah, I was wondering if I could stay here for the night," Jake replied. "Sure thing, kid! Come on in." The man led Jake inside, and showed him to a bed. "There ya go," the man said. "That's your bed for the night." Jake thanked the man, and went to bed. He slept soundly that night. In the morning, Jake woke up and stretched. He got dressed, and headed outside to start his day. As he was leaving, Jake saw the old man sitting on the porch. "Good morning!" the man greeted him. "Morning," Jake replied. "So, what are you planning on doing today?" the man asked. "I'm not sure. Maybe I'll go hunting or something," Jake answered. "Well, good luck with that," the old man replied. Jake thanked him, and headed off into the woods. He spent the whole day hunting, but didn't catch anything. So, he decided to head back to the cabin. When he arrived, the old man was nowhere to be seen. But as Jake was walking towards the door, he noticed a shiny object on the ground. It looked just like the coin he had found at the waterfall! Curious, Jake picked it up and examined it. It was the same exact coin! How could this be? Jake put the coin in his pocket, and headed inside. He sat down at the table and started eating the food that the old man had left for him. As Jake was eating, he heard a noise coming from outside. It sounded like someone was trying to get in the cabin! Jake got up and peeked out the window. There was the old man, trying to break in! Jake was shocked. What was he doing? Jake quickly grabbed a knife from the kitchen, and ran outside. He confronted the old man, and asked him what he was doing. The old man just smiled and said, "You know why I'm here." Then he lunged at Jake with the knife! Jake ducked, and the knife went right through the old man's heart. The old man collapsed to the ground, and died. Jake was horrified. He had killed an innocent man! Jake ran back into the cabin, and locked the doors. He barricaded himself in the room, and waited for the police to come. A few hours later, the police arrived. They questioned Jake about what had happened, and he told them everything. They took Jake into custody, and charged him with murder. Jake spent the next few months in jail, until his trial. On the day of the trial, Jake was brought into the courtroom. The prosecuting attorney presented the evidence against Jake, including the video of the killing. The defense attorney argued that Jake had acted in self-defense, and that the old man had been the one who attacked first. But the judge didn't seem to agree. He found Jake guilty of murder, and sentenced him to life in prison. Jake was taken away to serve his sentence. And that was the end of Jake's story.
