I was born into an upper-middle class family, my parents being successful lawyers. I've always been an intelligent child. I attended a prestigious private school. In highschool I played the lead in a few plays and musicals. I also did very well academically. At college I majored in English and Philosophy and was in the honors program for both of those subjects.
Now I'm on my way to becoming an academic philosopher with an emphasis in moral philosophy.
tl;dr: I was smart, had good parents, and was good at school so I got to do something I love.

Well no one gets into college without paying for it.
But I wasn't exactly paying, I was getting financial aid.

Yeah there's a lot of different opinions on things.
But there's also a lot of hard work and rigorous thought required in philosophy too.
