Canada has different age ranges than the US for grades.

What's wrong with choosing what school you want to go to? It's not like you have any say in it, unless you live somewhere where there's tons of public schools within a mile or two of each other.

If your parents decide on your schooling and you're upset about it, you can always try and convince them to change their mind.
But if they really mean it, you don't have a choice but to accept it.
I don't see how what they did is so bad.
