"nerd" isn't an insult. I don't see why people feel they have to call others "nerds" when it doesn't mean anything, but I'm not going to be one of those people that whines about it. If you want to say it then that's fine with me. But it really doesn't mean anything and there isn't any reason to use it as an insult.

Because they think they can make themselves look cool by being the ones who aren't nerds, even though they're really just trying to make themselves look better than they are. That's pretty much my theory on why people use it. The only people who actually like to be called nerds are people who are nerds in real life.

I still don't understand why people use it as an insult. It isn't an insult. It means nothing to me anymore and I'm not sure how anyone else thinks it's an insult.
