my last name is a made up word too, though it's not really that common of a name, it's still made up.

Yeah, my family chose the name and no one else has it
My parents didn't know it was made up until they looked it up after I got my driver's license and took the written test.

My last name is not even close to being a made up word
It's an Indian last name which means king or royalty
We are not royal but we do have a lot of power

well my grandpa did some weird thing where he changed my family name from "Kane" to "Kahn"
i like kahn better anyway so i guess it worked out good

But I always thought it pronounced "Kin" (Two syllables) Which is not very close to King

Not every one in my family pronounces it the same way
Some pronounce it like this "Kin" and some pronounce it like this "King"
The older generation say it with two syllables and the younger say it with one
