It's not so much pretending to be bad, it's more about your creativity. You can make people with different personalities.
Also, I'd say there are worse games than The Sims. Just think, what if you liked The Sims and someone took it from you? (Which happened to me by my sister and my brother)
That could turn out pretty...pretty terrible...
