Why do they call it a "hot" dog?

It's not hot. It's cold, actually. It's room temperature. Room temperature is neither cold nor hot. But whatever. Let's say that it isn't room temperature. It's still not hot. In order for food to be called "hot" it has to be extremely hot. The only hot thing about a hot dog is the fact that you burn yourself when eating it. And then there are those weird ones. You know what I'm talking about. I hate when people say "Let's get some hot dogs." because the only ones who call it a hot dog are old women.
