He kept going on and on
The best way for me to shut him up was by asking how many times a day he prays.

I don't think anyone really has an idea of whether or not there are other life forms in our universe.
If you're referring to Earth's history (and by extension humanity) we have only been around since roughly ~5 thousand years ago with major recorded civilization starting around 7-10 thousand years ago.
Even if there were life elsewhere it wouldn't necessarily mean they'd be able to make contact. They may have evolved past needing anything physical, so even if they had radio/other technology would probably have no use for it. It could also potentially be some kind of viral plague (lifeforms need more than food and drink).
It's not impossible but unless aliens find us first it seems pretty unlikely.
