My sister: "I'm not going outside today, so I don't need to brush my teeth."
Me: "But you'll feel gross, so why would you not want to brush?"
Sister: "It's not fair. You get to go outside, while I have to stay here. If it were the other way around, you'd be mad at me."
Me: "Oh really? It's not like you're right all of the time."

You might have been better off leaving your sister alone with that argument

I wouldn't because she was already making herself look dumb by making up excuses.

And why can't we leave each other alone? That sounds like something you'd do to your siblings.

Well then you would have had a nice and civil conversation about brushing teeth, instead of arguing

She tried to start one, but I said no. Then she made an excuse not to brush her teeth. So I decided to call her out on it.
