i mean
like when i say im gonna get off my phone for a minute and i leave my phone there and walk away like 5 minutes later some kid is playing games on it and i come back and he says "its your phone, right?"
and then i say yes, and then he asks me how to play this game
or if i'm telling a joke and people are not laughing, but theyre smiling awkwardly like they don't want to be rude or something
so like do you guys have any more examples where you dont understand what girls are talking about?

it's not a trend but it happens frequently enough for me to notice:
"oh there's this great new anime series called *insert name here*"
and then i'll ask "isn't that a term referring to some sort of programming language"
and the girls will be like "no it's an anime!"
and so then i'll think about what they said for a bit and realize that maybe i should start watching more anime
or
"have you heard of this band called *insert name here*?"
and i'll say yes since i already knew of the band before the girl brought it up and then i'll explain how much i love their music
and she'll be like "wow, really? i just discovered them!" and then we'll listen to some songs together and talk about them
i don't get it
why can't girls just use normal references to communicate with me instead of making me have to look up everything to make sense of what they're saying
