No, it's an article.
It's not a noun, or verb.
It can't be counted. It has no plural form.
So it's a word, but not a real word.

I am pretty sure the is used more than the word i in the english language, because we use the to describe people, places, and things...

But it could be the word "I" used as an adjective. So if you see "The I," that would be referring to yourself.

It's an article, not a word.
And, not only does 'the' appear more than any other word, but it also appears in more different forms than any other word.
For example, the plural of sheep is sheep.
The plural of fish is fish.
The plural of deer is deer.
The plural of mouse is mouse.
etc.
You get my drift?
