I really liked Sonic 2 because there were so many different characters to play as. Like you said, I could only play as Sonic though.

the only other ones i beat besides sonic was:
- mario and luigi superstar saga (this one was easy)
- mario and luigi busters' badge quest (this was very hard)

I love the Mario and Luigi series. I haven't played a lot of games in that series though.
