the WII was about Wii Sports, which was an easy to play game for everyone. the Wii U will be about "U", ie you. you the player, and the player alone. the Wii U will be a console that has all these games with multiple player modes, but it'll really be focused on the single-player experience. the Wii U will be about YOU.

it was the first console designed to be played by non-gamers, so it's not surprising they didn't like it. but it wasn't really a "gamer" console either, because if it had been then the Wii U wouldn't have had the controller it has right now.

oh and one more thing, there will be a "Wii U GamePad Edition" which is basically the same system as the Wii U only without the tv output port and with a regular old ps3/360 controller instead of the gamepad. the Wii U GamePad Edition will cost less than the original Wii U, but will have all the same games, and will still be backwards compatible with every Wii game ever made.

if you don't like playing on your tv then that is perfectly fine, and no one should force you into doing so. however, it isn't the case for everyone, which is why there are 3 different versions of the Wii U being released.

the point here is that people who are interested in the Wii U should look forward to the fact that it's a console that's really about YOU. the player, alone. the Wii U has more single-player games than any other console ever made, and that's only the beginning. the Wii U will have a ton of new, amazing single-player experiences that just haven't been seen before. if you're an avid single player gamer who doesn't like to play with others, the Wii U will be perfect for you.
