The earth is rotating in space. This causes day and night, and also, a full revolution around the sun takes one year.
Why does the earth rotate? Where did it get its speed?

@xX
The moon is just a large rock orbiting the earth.
Why would its gravity effect the earth's rotation?

I don't know, maybe the moon's gravity has something to do with it.
It might be a mystery that will never be solved.

Earth is orbiting the Sun too.

It could be a combination of both gravity and the fact that it is in orbit.

The earth is already orbiting around the sun.
Where did it get it's spin?

Well, it was spinning before we were created. So I guess when it was made, it was spinning.

I'm not saying the earth WAS NOT spinning. I am saying, where did it get its rotation?

I believe in the Big Bang theory, so I do not believe that god made the universe. Even if he did, it is unlikely that he gave it spin.

well I have heard a theory about how it could be explained that the universe is expanding but the earth isn't moving but it is still spinning but then what causes it to spin? and also if you go into space it will seem like your still moving but your not moving relative to the earth... thats confusing :P

@Zevinnave
Well, I know that the earth's speed is approximately 30 km/s, and it is orbiting around the sun. Where did it get its spin?

Well, for one, our solar system was not created by god (according to people who don't believe in god). It was created by some sort of explosion. Maybe something exploded on the Earth, or maybe the Sun. It might have caused the Earth to gain it's spin, but we can never know.

@xxnintendo
The Big Bang theory says that there was nothing, and then suddenly, there was something. That thing was an incredibly massive fireball, which expanded outward and eventually cooled down, forming the stars and planets.
So where did the fireball get it's spin?

Who knows? You may never know why the Earth has it's spin. Maybe someday they will find the answer.
