I think it's more because of the economy. So many people were unemployed and they had nothing to do.

If you look at crime rates in the 80s and compare them to today, it's actually about the same.

Well, most of the crimes in the 80s involved drugs and the government made it illegal to use them, making an illegal market for them. Since these items are illegal, they are worth a lot more than they should be. If they were legal, their worth would drop drastically.

Yeah I know that. I'm just wondering why there was so much drug related crime back then compared to now. I mean we still have drug-related crime now but not as much as the 80s.
