the original fallout games are also good and probably the best fallouts overall
but if you're not interested in fallout new vegas has some pretty cool mods

if you have an interest in the series i highly recommend fallout 2
i'd say fallout 3 is a decent entry, but it's definitely not for everyone and doesn't feel like a proper fallout game to me (especially with its lack of factions)

i haven't played any that came out this year
though if you want something recent, i can tell you what i liked the most of what i played last year:
1. the binding of isaac: wrath of the lamb
2. tomb raider
3. the last of us (which is one of the best games ever, just like the first game)
4. dragon age origins

to be honest i'm just going to go back and finish playing fallout 4, as it's one of my favorite games ever and i really didn't get much playtime with it
