It's just an un-optimized port of a game which was meant for the NES/N64/GameCube/Wii. Even as the original, these games don't even look that good nowadays.
I honestly can't see why people like playing Mario on Roblox.

I suppose the original NES graphics are somewhat tolerable in my opinion.
But it does look bad compared to other games with modern graphics.

You have no proof whatsoever. And, even if I was wrong and there were some who played Mario on Roblox with their friends, it would probably be a very small percentage.

The NES, N64, Gamecube and Wii are all 8-bit, which means they were made to run in 8-bit graphics.
Roblox isn't HD, its 3D, though it lacks shading.
