I have had a number of friends get cancer, and one of them died. This is what I think is the most depressing thing that ever happened to me. But I want to know if something worse happened to you.

when i lost my best friend for no reason he just left with no word and i haven't heard from him in years

The moment my life started ending when I got diagnosed with stage IV cancer in 1992. The last three years have been horrible.
