It'll be an i7, 8 GB ram, Windows 8 (not too bothered about that) and hopefully a GTX 660.

Windows 8 sucks.

That's because it was built by Microsoft, they have always had bad operating systems, except for Windows 95 and 98, those were pretty good.

Well, there's nothing I can do about it. I only have 6 month's worth of time left on my current laptop.

Laptops are a horrible computer to buy in general, but if you're forced to get one, go get a desktop.

A netbook is probably your best bet, even though they tend to be weak computers, they're portable enough.

The only portable option I could get with my budget is a Macbook Air.

Macbooks are horrible, they run hot and slow, and have a terrible keyboard layout.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15.6" laptop with a Core i5, 4 GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Windows XP. It's fine for now, as long as I don't want to play a game on there.

A core i7 with 8gb of ram is really overkill when it comes to laptops, because they don't tend to run any tasks very heavily.
