1.8 has been released. It's the next major version of Minecraft, and it's all about your world. The entire terrain is now made out of blocks - and you can change those blocks, in a way that never happened before. Every block is now made up of smaller parts called "blockstates" which make up the look and behavior of every block. This means that you can create new blocks or edit existing ones to create entirely new materials! Want red wool? You can make it! How about an orange wool? You can do that too. What if we want a material that looks like glass but behaves like wood? No problem!
This release is a big step towards creating a user content website that allows anyone to publish their own blocks, items, textures, mobs, biomes, recipes and more, making Minecraft truly open.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab the release, try it out, and get in touch with us. We are really looking forward to hearing your ideas on what you think should be included in future versions of Minecraft!

The most interesting thing is that they've finally fixed the physics.
