There's a lot of autistic people that are highly functioning.
I've met one who was able to hold down a job, and he was like the most intelligent person I ever met. He had a PhD, was a professor at Harvard or something like that and he worked at a university.

a lot of autistic people are smart enough to know how to hide their autism while also being able to work on it privately at home or whatever

Not all autistic people are the same. I'm sure some people have severe cases which prevent them from working. But I've known several people who have Aspergers and they can work. They may be socially awkward but they're very smart and if they want to get ahead, then they'll learn how to socialize. I'm not saying that I am in any way superior to anyone else but I just happen to think that I could do a better job than most people at any position I'd be given at a company. If I were to become a CEO of a company, then I could make sure everyone does what they're supposed to be doing.
