The truth about the 4th of July

It is a time to celebrate. To honor our soldiers, those who fought and died for our freedom. But do we really know why this day was made? Do you know why they died? They were fighting for your freedom, not just a holiday or a day off. They knew that if they lost the war, their families would be killed. They fought for your life. We are free today because of them. Now, I know what you're thinking. "No, it wasn't just for us, they wanted freedom too." But do you ever wonder why they decided to settle in a land full of Indians? Do you think there weren't other options available? No. There were many other places. They chose to settle here. They had a choice. Now, I know that some people have different opinions on this, but I believe that it's time that we all realized what this country has done for us. It may seem like they're doing nothing, but they're trying to keep us safe. They're trying to make sure that we can sleep peacefully knowing that we will wake up tomorrow. They're trying to protect us from terrorists, from other countries wanting to take over. Think about it. If we didn't have them, where would we be? We wouldn't be here right now. We'd probably be living in another country, somewhere else on the earth. And yes, I understand that there is crime in this country, and that sometimes our police officers abuse their authority, but if you look at the big picture, we are really lucky to be in this position. We don't see all the bad stuff that happens, we only see the good stuff. I know that not everyone will agree with me on this, but I truly believe that we should appreciate what we have. Not just on the 4th of July, but everyday.
