well yeah i guess that's true but people have been using it since the '70s and it's not exactly "new" as in "something no one ever heard of before"
i guess it depends on what you mean by "new"

Yeah, well, that's a good point, but at least for my generation, it was pretty much nonexistent when I was growing up, so it does seem kind of new to us, even though it's obviously not.

the internet is just a bunch of wires connected together, and there were always wires connected together so people could communicate over distances
