There are many things that you can't do in America without having to go to jail. You're not allowed to do anything involving drugs, prostitution, or gambling. You're also not allowed to do any acts of terrorism.
If the government is going to limit what you can and can't do, then why is it considered a "free" country? It's not very free if the government is telling you what you can and cannot do.

you can't do drugs because its illegal
you can do prostitution and gambling but its just frowned upon by society, so theres no need to make them illegal
and terroritsm is obvious, they will blow up your country.

because it doesnt really matter as much
the goverment says they want to help us, so they make these laws so we can live better.

I'd rather live in a country with a lot of freedom but also crime and poverty than a country with no freedom but less crime and poverty.

if you didnt have these laws, then we wouldnt have freedom
and there would be more crime and poverty
