1. A lot of people say that it has a darker tone compared to the original, which is pretty accurate. However, there are no real "dark" parts at all throughout the entire episode.
2. In that same vein, a lot of people say the ponies look different. The new designs are similar in quality to the designs from the original, but it's still noticeable that they're different.
3. People also say the plot is "deeper". I'd have to disagree, as the plot doesn't really seem to progress any further than the original.
tl;dr version: It's not that different from the original
