He's like 12 and his favorite anime is One Piece (he has watched it before, but he doesn't watch it anymore)
And he watches 2d animated shows
He's pretty much the opposite of me in every way when it comes to my interests
I don't know what to do with him

Yeah, that's what I think as well. But he says he's an otaku and uses it as if it's a word in the dictionary
Like he literally treats it as a proper noun when it's just a term that means "nerd"

Also, I don't mean to offend him, but I can't be friends with someone who I don't even see eye to eye with on my interests. And he doesn't watch any anime anyways (that I know of) so there isn't anything we have in common
If he is a nerd, that's fine with me, but when he uses the term "otaku" incorrectly I just want to correct him because he's using it wrong

yes i understand what youre saying but what im saying is that no one likes one piece, and its not good
one piece has no good characters and bad writing and bad animation
i have met people who think theyre otaku and theyre actually really nerdy and theyre only into anime for the sake of being an otaku and theyre usually edgy or cringey and annoying to hang out with, and they dont actually like any anime except for maybe naruto or DBZ or something which is a huge red flag

I can see why someone wouldn't like One Piece. It doesn't appeal to me either. But I've never watched it so I don't really have an opinion on it yet (although I'm pretty sure I would dislike it if I watched it)

Then you shouldn't watch it in the first place. Or do, and form your own opinion. But don't just say that you don't like it because everyone else does and that's why you should too
I'm not saying you can't dislike it, but don't say it's bad without having any actual reason as to why.
