troll is a very powerful weapon, if used effectively
however it can be overused and backfire on you. So here are some tips.
1) know your enemy
before you pull the trigger (or use the keyboard), you should take into account their personality. What sort of person they are.
if someone's an idiot then obviously you don't need to make any changes just straight up go for it.
but if they're like intelligent or mature then it could get complicated so it would be best not to target that specific person with trolling because it'll probably result in an argument or something.
2) timing
it's all about when you strike. Timing is important for every good troller. The more you practice it the better you'll become at it.
so try using this skill on other forums too aside OT.
3) avoid becoming bait yourself
don't fall victim to being baited! It may seem tempting but you shouldn't let it happen. You must resist! If possible stay away from threads where there's likely to be baiting happening so as to keep safe.
4) pick your weapons wisely
some people have preferred methods of trolling. For example me i usually use sarcasm. But other people prefer to play dirty or try to start arguments etc.. These tactics will work for different people depending on the situation.
5) know who your allies are
in times of war we ally with others who support our cause. So it works similarly with trolling. Have friends around you whom agree with what you're doing. Having these people nearby helps prevent you being backed down by those who oppose you.
6) always leave evidence behind
this is necessary incase anything happens. I've heard stories of trolls getting banned before for things which weren't even related to them posting inappropriately.
7) use humour whenever possible!
jokes are funny and really help the atmosphere. Try making jokes sometimes, especially with insults :D
8) choose a side
you must decide whether you want to do what you think is right, or follow the crowd. People often choose the latter, but that doesn't mean you have to do it.
9) avoid breaking the rules
obviously you can bend them here and there but never break them otherwise you'll get banned.
10) don't lose focus
trolling is hard, very difficult actually. You should prepare mentally beforehand by doing meditation for 20 minutes or eating some raw vegetables (not the sweetcorn kind). Whatever works for you is fine as long as it prepares you for the task ahead!
11) enjoy yourselves guys! ;)
have fun while you last!
just remember: it ain't over till the fat lady sings

No offense OP,
but this seems like something a little child wrote up.
I didn't see any tips at all; only statements about how one "should" troll.
Also, number 4 isn't accurate.
If someone is a bad troll then they aren't good at using weapons wisely.
