They're so complicated and they don't really work well so why can't we just use bows and arrows?
because archers aren't as effective in war as people think. and the reason people think that is because of the movies, but those movies are historically inaccurate so it's not like we're using the right stuff anyways.
if anything bows would be better than guns because they're easier to use and faster.

but i was just asking why they're still used instead of bows and arrows.
i know they're efficient and easier to use than bows and arrows, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't replace them with bows and arrows since bows and arrows are cheaper and don't have recoil which guns do.

Oh I see. Yeah, but the recoil is generally not enough to be noticed when firing a modern military firearm.
Guns also reload faster than a bow. There's also the fact that it's much more difficult to make a bow accurately than a gun.

Well, bows aren't really accurate, especially since they can be very difficult to aim with. Most people don't even try using them accurately anymore as it takes too long to aim, making bows impractical for warfare.

Crossbows would have a much larger impact than the weapons you're talking about but they're still not very useful on the battlefield.
