She's taking an online course for a high school diploma and one of the quizzes has a question about a word that starts with "c" that means someone who likes to fight.
So my mom wrote down the correct answer and sent it in. Then she got a pop-up saying "Please try again." So she tried to do the quiz again, but it wouldn't let her. So then she called up the website's customer service number and the lady who answered told her that you can't redo the quiz and that if you want to retake the entire course you need to pay $150 to take it all over again.
My mom is really ticked off because she paid like $200 to take the first course and now she thinks she has been scammed out of the money. I'm just laughing at this point because it is pretty funny.
I was always afraid to tell my mom how much I made on the internet because I didn't know what she would think. Now she wants to get involved and start making some money too.

And also, if it's a scam then I might be able to get some money back if I had the right person contact them.

"if it's a scam"
but the internet isn't real life
so it can't be a scam

What does it matter whether or not it's real life?
