The store owner tells him they have pets for sale and the man says he wants a parrot. The store owner goes out back and gets the man a parrot, who is in a cage.
The man pays for the parrot and walks home with it. He takes the parrot's cage up to his bedroom and puts it on top of his dresser.
He then gets ready for bed and when he's in his bed he notices that the parrot is squawking loudly at him.
The man asks the parrot why he is doing this and the parrot replies, "You brought me here to be your slave."
The man replies, "Nope, you're not my slave, I just bought you so you could talk to me while I'm sleeping."
The parrot then asks, "Then what am I?"
The man replies, "You're just a pet."
