It's not even a republic. It's an oligarchy with some democratic elements.

Democracy is just mob rule, and republics are usually oligarchies that have been legitimized by a system of elections and "democratic" institutions.

Mob rule, as in the majority ruling over the minority without any consideration for their opinions or interests. It's just rule by the majority.

but that's not what i said
what i said was
"it's a representative republic with some oligarchical elements"
which is true because the US has a representative government
and it doesn't have a direct democracy like venezuela

We also have a lot of oligarchies here, especially since corporations are considered "people" and can therefore be represented on the Supreme Court and all that stuff.

"it's a representative republic with some oligarchical elements"
yes there are a lot of oligarchies in the US
but those aren't directly related to the political system
those are things that exist outside of the political system

The political system is the oligarchy, which is represented by the institutions. The people are just the voters who have no real influence over the decisions made in these institutions, but who nevertheless participate in the elections (which are designed to make them feel as if they are part of the decision-making process).

There are certain decisions that affect the entire population (i.e., elections) that are supposed to be made by the people.
However, there are other decisions that only concern a specific minority or interest group, and they're left entirely up to the oligarchy that represents that minority interest or group.

that doesn't make the US a democracy, however
if that were true then it wouldn't have been necessary for the electoral college to exist since the majority would choose the president
