2012 was an obvious joke. This one seems more legit, but it's not.

2012 was actually real, and they didn't expect it to end in 12'12'

I remember there being a lot of people who believed in that crap about 2012.

It's called "The Mayan Calendar". There's no way to make a "real" version, since they left out all the details. But the calendar is long, so yeah, 2012 was a real date. However, they only put down a few numbers (I think they were only given 4 digits, so I don't know what it would have been), so it ended up at December 21st or whatever.

Also, how do you know this? Were you close to the Mayans?

I'm not sure if they expected anything to happen or not. They're just a bunch of idiot savants.

They expected something to happen, but they didn't expect it to be that bad.

I can see why they expected something to happen because of all the planets and stars aligning. But they expected it to be that bad?

The Mayans thought that the world is always ending in some form or another. So they started making dates for things to end, and made them seem important, which, of course, they weren't.

the mayan calender was never made for predicting doom it was made for being used by farmers so they can predict the start of seasons
