So I am doing a group project in history where we have to create a "newspaper" for our unit on the civil war. So, we have to cover the civil war through articles in this newspaper, and there is a certain format that we need to follow (title, date, byline, etc.). My main problem is that I have no idea what to write about, so I was hoping someone here could give me some ideas. We have to include at least 8 articles, so if you can suggest more than one thing, that would be very helpful!

what are you specifically having trouble with?

I'm not sure what to cover in the newspaper, since we're supposed to talk about the civil war as a whole. We have to include events leading up to the start of the war, the war itself, and then events after the war ended. But I don't know which events to choose that would make interesting news articles.

you can look up pretty much any battle or event from the civil war and probably find some sort of news article about it
if you want me to go over what you'd probably be interested in, though, you can do the following:
1.) Battle of Gettysburg (or any other major battle)
2.) Battle of Little Round Top (or any other smaller yet still important battle)
3.) The Emancipation Proclamation (it's pretty famous so you could probably get some interesting news articles)
4.) The assassination of Lincoln

Those are some great ideas, thanks! I might also talk about the Union Army's tactics or how they changed during the course of the war, because we've already covered all of that in our class.
