the Netherlands is a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands
the kingdom also includes Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
those are considered "countries" too.
so that's why I always refer to it as the Netherlands

well, it isn't incorrect though. there is a country called "Holland" and it's part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, but the country "Netherlands" is different.
