I was walking down the road, and this guy pulled up in a van, and I saw him in my rear view mirror, but I didn't stop. So then he sped up to my car, and pushed me off the road into a ditch.

I think I might call the police though, because if he doesn't have any insurance, I can take his van.

If you're lucky, the police will arrest him for reckless driving, which is a serious charge and could cost him a lot of money if he ever goes to court.

He probably won't go to court anyways, because I live in a small town, and the guy probably has friends who know the police.

He can still go to court, but I would be surprised if he does. He could easily pay off the victim with some cash.

That's true, unless the police actually have a case against him. You can't bribe them when they don't have any reason to accept your money.
