2. Ask a random girl "What's your name?" and if she says it, then you've got her.

I find the "What's your name" trick doesn't work that well. You really need to know something about them to make them like you and that usually means getting to know them before hand.

Yeah, it helps to know what kind of person you want to talk to too. Like in my case, I'm looking for someone who is into fantasy stuff. I wouldn't normally talk to anyone who doesn't seem interested in that sort of stuff.

You know she does by looking at her. If she has a "nerd" look then she most likely does.
If she doesn't then you don't even need to talk to her.

I don't mean to make it sound like I'm against girls or anything. I like them fine as long as they're not a pain in the ass. But when you're in a party full of people where most of the people are going to act like idiots then you're not going to be able to get a normal conversation with anyone unless you actually know them or have something in common with them.
