So I was eating some beef jerky, and this one piece had something in it. It didn't look like a piece of meat so I spit out my mouthful and I took the piece in question and put it under my microscope. I found what looked like a single celled organism on it. It's about .001 micrometers long I googled it and I couldn't find anything similar to it. Then I realized it was probably some sort of bacteria or virus that we're never going to see again unless it grows into something worse... What do I do?

Well, you could always take a sample and send it off to be analyzed by experts. Or, you can throw away the beef jerky, disinfect your hands and mouth and hope for the best. Or, you can try and grow it yourself in a petri dish.

@ioder I threw away the beef jerky but now I'm thinking there might be something in here that will kill me if I don't get rid of it. What should I do with it?

You need to put it on a slide and go to a lab, they'll take care of the rest. They'll analyze it and make sure you're safe.

There's really no reason why you wouldn't wait. It's been sitting under your microscope for quite some time already, it wouldn't hurt to let it sit another day, right?

Yeah, I don't want to put any more of these things in my system. I'm gonna wait until I go back to school and talk to a teacher about this. It'd be the safest bet.

Sounds like a good plan. I hope they can analyze whatever it was and make sure you're safe.
