i have a friend who has some weird disease that makes him swallow liquids without swallowing them first, so he swallows them in his throat and then regurgitates them
he does this to clean his mouth after eating, lol

anyways spongy here is what i was gonna say
when you get a liquid it's not healthy to just swallow it quickly, because that's the fastest way for it to reach your stomach and make your stomach produce acid quickly. by drinking slowly you let your salivary glands secrete saliva which helps dilute the acidity of the stomach.
so yeah try to drink your soda slowly instead of just swallowing it whole
