That's not true. Most cities have their own parks which is nice because you don't have to travel to some other place just to go hiking or camping. Plus, in most cities you don't have to worry about being murdered while walking down the street, which is nice compared to towns where the only thing to do is walk down the street and get murdered.

But I also live in a big city and I don't feel like that's the case here. People are always saying "Oh, you live in a small town..." and "Oh, I can't wait to move to a big city..." when in reality neither are really all that great.

I'm just trying to see your point of view. I think that I'm pretty much on the same page as you, though. If we're both talking about the average city, well then obviously there's more stuff to do in the average city than there is in the average town. I'm just saying that cities aren't necessarily more exciting than towns or vice versa.
