It keeps getting this 'An Error Occurred' message, and then it says it needs to be reset.
Is that a common thing?

But, it worked yesterday.
I don't understand.

I'm not sure what happened but I can tell you how to get into Safe mode on your PS3, in case something has happened to it.
Hold the power button down until you hear two beeps (about 5 seconds).
After that, insert a game disc and start up the PS3. The only things you'll be able to do are install games and view saved data.

@2robodude44
I know what you're talking about.
And it did work for me before.
But now... I don't think so.
It won't play any games anymore. It just gives me that 'Error Occurred' message.

@2robodude44
It says "An Error Occurred" and then asks if I want to reset the system.
When I say yes, it restarts itself and then shows another error message saying that it can't read the disc.

That's strange...
It sounds like it might have some sort of virus or malware.

@2robodude44
It really doesn't sound like a virus.
The only time this ever happened to me was when I tried to download something from the internet onto my PS3. I got an error message saying I couldn't do it, then it asked if I wanted to reset the system.
I'm not sure why this happened again, because I've never downloaded anything else onto the PS3.

You could try going to Settings > System Update to see if there are any updates available for your PS3.
If there isn't any, you could try deleting all files from the hard drive and then starting it up again as if it were new.

I don't know, because it doesn't give me one. It just says "An Error Occurred" and asks me if I want to reset the system.
When I say yes, it restarts itself and then shows another error message saying that it can't read the disc.

@lego
Does the PS3's red light flash while you're trying to play a game or any other disc? If it does, then there might be an error with the drive.
If not, it might have something to do with the firmware.

@2robodude44
It didn't flash, and when I tried to play another game it said that I should go to the safe mode.
I'll try what you told me to do in your first post, since I can't delete the hardrive.
Thanks! :)
