im stuck on this problem
a ball is thrown horizontally from a height of 5.3 ft. It lands after 1 sec. What was its speed?

What kind of ball? A basketball would have different air resistance to a baseball which has less air resistance.

i think this should be in rt but anyways here it is:
if it was dropped from the same distance, it would hit the ground (5ft high) after 1sec. so we know that if a ball falls 100ft from the same starting point it will also take exactly 1sec to hit the ground. now divide 100 by 5 and get 20. now multiply the original velocity(20) by the time (1) and you'll get the same result: 20.
