He had a very aggressive form of cancer that would have made him lose his eyesight and hearing and eventually he'd die anyways, so we decided to do it now.
It was a really sad moment.

I remember when my dad told me my grandpa passed away. It was horrible news and the worst part is, I didn't even know him that well because we lived in different states.

it's not the first time I've lost a dog
My best friend and I got our first dogs together (a few months after we started dating). They were both dachshunds (one was black, one was tan) and we had them for about three years. One day our black one went outside to pee and fell into the backyard pond. We got her out but she drowned before we could get help. The vet told us she probably died in less than five minutes.
A week or so later we were walking our tan one down a street near where we lived and he got hit by a car. He died on the spot.
I've never seen a more devastating loss. My heart broke for months.
I'm sorry if this is too depressing.
