I loved SMB2, so much fun. Even when you beat the game over and over you never get bored playing it because the levels have so much detail and are so fun and addicting.

Try not to use the special characters a lot, they can be more dangerous than helpful if you're not careful.

Super Mario bros. 2 is my favorite Mario game ever. You don't need power ups or anything to make the game fun. It's just about platforming.
