I was talking about how my friend's school has the same uniform as me, and I made a joke about him being adopted. And I said it in a way that I thought was okay because I didn't have any bad intentions.

I said "my friend" which he assumed I meant an actual friend that goes to his school, but I was actually talking about a character in one of my fanfiction stories.
