I would make some sort of robot hat that has arms to hold the tool. Not just a head. A robot suit.

That sounds nice, but I think it should also have legs... Oh and make it so you can equip a sword in it's hands... And maybe it will automatically swing when holding the sword. And if you have a hammer, he'll automatically do the animation for hammering stuff.
