If there's a thread that looks like it has a lot of replies, why doesn't the number look like 100,000?
I'm not talking about threads with 1 or 2 pages of replies, I'm talking about threads with say, 10,000+ replies. If I look at them, it shows it has 9K replies even though it could have a lot more than that.

It's not a bug and has nothing to do with the forum software. It's just an aesthetic feature to prevent spam. The number of replies are actually correct.

The software doesn't want people replying to threads in excess so they made it so you can only see up to a certain amount of replies.

oh. I thought there was an error because the thread I was looking at had more than a thousand pages but it showed less than a thousand replies. It wasn't until I went further that I saw more replies.
what happened in this case is that the total number of replies shown would be the real total of replies. It's just that, for whatever reason, the site shows you only the "top" ones.

I think they made it so that only replies in the first page are shown as a precaution against spam. The total amount of replies aren't hidden or anything.
