step 1: make the show have something that is in a way different then most anime (not like pokemon which has tons of people who watch it and the only thing thats different is it's all in japan, i mean actual different)
step 2: make the characters unique (no generic highschoolers, no generic school uniforms, no generic mechs and weapons)
step 3: make the plot actually different then your normal "save the world" or "world ending disaster" plot
step 4: don't take the same setting for every episode (ex. not all episodes are in the same town or all in space or underwater or something)
